Joha and his wise wife

Every year Joha used to take a basket of good fruit to the Sultan. One day he wanted to take a basket of big apples to the Sultan but his wife refused.

She told him that the apples were good to eat.

She asked him to take the Sultan some soft ripe figs instead.so Joha took the Sultan a basket full of figs. Joha put the figs on a table in front of the Sultan, sat down but didn’t speak at all.

The Sultan liked jokes so he took a fig and threw it at Joha’s head.

Joha only said: “Thanks God!” “Thanks God!” So the Sultan threw figs at Joha again. Each time a fig hit Joha’s head, he said “Thanks God!” “Thanks God!”

The Sultan was rather surprised.

At last he said: “Joha aren’t you angry? Why you thanking God?”

“Good Sultan I am thanking God because I have a clever wife. I was foolish. I wanted to bring you a basket of apples, but my wife kept the apples and gave me figs for you. So you threw only soft figs at my head not hard apples
